John.
I find it quite a coincidence that John Carpenter/Lois had a
daughter Lydia Lorne born in 1853, and John Carpenter had a Lydia Lorne
Carpenter born Mar 15, 1819 in Dover Windham, Vt per LDS batch#7450047,
source call no. 0027501 film. John/Lois didn't get married until 1827.
Is this the sister of John who married Lois? If so them we know that
John of John/Lois father was also a John.
Gene
P.S. It seems more than a coincidence as Lydia Carpenter I could
understand, but Lydia Lorne is not a common name."If John & Lois married in 1827 (proven) I doubt they had a child a child b. 1819 might be the other John s/o Barlow Srang also married in 1827 first child born bet 1830 - 1834 ? Unless he was off fighting somewhere ...
BIRTH: Her birthday, based upon age at death (64-6-29 on 2 Feb 1917) is 4 Jul 1852.
Does the previous date given "29 Jun 1853" represent her baptism date or ???CHILDREN: Peter Blood of Germantown, MD
supplied an update to the known children. He has never heard of the follwing children that are listed in this record: Harriot, Olin, & Gertrude.
His birth dates for children derive from the 1880 census and "The Stoughton Family of Gill, Massachusetts" by Ralph Stoughton (1954).

John,
Sure. I received an official DC which was written on 8 mar 2004, obviously transcribed as opposed to being a copy of an original record. Thus it is not a primary record, not even for death.
Lydia L. Cary
Death: 2 Feb 1917, Colrain, MA
White female
Married Daniel Cary.
Age at death is 64-6-29
Resident of Colrain, MA
Occupation housewife
Born in Guilford, VT
Father: John Carpenter born in (left blank wouldn't ya know)
Mother: Lois "Graves" (I assume that this is a transaction error from the original
Buried 31 Dec 1917 (!!!!!) in Cary Lot East Colrain, MA (hope they kept her on ice) (Got any ideas on this?)
1917, page 107, No 3 (this must be the location of the record that was transcribed - wish they simply photocopied it)
Same type of document. Same date:
Daniel Cary
death: 2 Mar 1928 in Colrain, MA
Male
Widowed
Wife's name: (blank)
Age at death 82-10-1
resident of Colrain, MA
Occupation farmer
Born in Gill, MA
Father: Zina CARY born in Gill, MA
Mother: Elmira Plumb born in Guilford, VT
Buried 6 Mar 1928 in Cary Lot East Colrain, MA
1928, page 13, No 4 (again, I rather have the photocopy)The above fits well with what I know about the CARY family. FYI: Daniel had a daughter Nettie who married Daniel's brother John. Thus she married at age 17 her own uncle on 13 May 1885. Their first child was born 7 Aug 1885. Do the math. I figure that either:
1) John is a scoundrel who raped his niece than was forced into a shotgun wedding when she started to show, or
2) John is a bloody saint who upon seeing his niece knocked up by some other guy, did the right thing and married her.
Got any ideas how I might determine which is the truth?

Hello, not sure if we have corresponded before will have to look back in my notes. My maiden name is Carpenter.
Short on time next few days but will attach four family group lines for you to see - I HAVE A LOT OF NOTES NOT ENTERED - so these may not be totally updated or correct to date. I also have spoken with some town clerks and am awaiting some death records I have sent for.
Would love to compare notes with you on rest of line as well.
If we have not corresponded before let me know and I will show you my line - what is your Carpenter line.
PamNotes for Lydia Lorne (Child 8)
lived in Colrain, Franklin, MA which is on border near Guilford, VTchildren 14/12 in 1900 census showing 2 deceased
I show children Nettie 2nd and Milton deceased at that time
If Nettie born 1889 and died 5 days later and Milton who died at 4 days old in 1898 then she would have had 14 children who lived past the first week - there seems to be 16 children total thought attributed to Daniel and Lydia.

lived in Colrain, Franklin, MA which is on border near Guilford, VTchildren 14/12 in 1900 census showing 2 deceased
I show children Nettie 2nd and Milton deceased at that time
If Nettie born 1889 and died 5 days later and Milton who died at 4 days old in 1898 then she would have had 14 children who lived past the first week - there seems to be 16 children total thought attributed to Daniel and Lydia.
Notes for Nettie R (Child 1)
according to one source there is a copy of a letter from a genealogical society in which a Marion Hodgdon writes to Beatrice Lange that " John Henon Carey" born 5/15/1960 married "Nettie Carey" on 5/13/1885 in Halifax, Windham, VT. Nettie is 18, born in Colrain, and her parents are lsited as "Daniel Carey" and "Lydia". John is 25 born in Colrain and his father and mother are something like "Gince Carey" and "Almini Carey".Many sources seems to indicate some confusion of John Heron Carey's wifes name - it is found as Nettie Borris, Nettie Carpenter, Nettie Burroughs. She could easily be Nettie Carey and be on a second marriage???

Notes for Orus Henry (Child 7)
I believe this is Morris H. in the 1880 census
Notes for Gertrude (Child 11)
some people show this as a child of Daniel and Lydia - could the date be wrong and she be the Gertrude of John and Nettie making her Daniel and Lydia's grandaughter and neice as well??
Notes for Nettie (Child 13)
not sure why a second daughter would be named if 1st daughter Nettie was still alive??----------------------------------------
