This Carepenter line is represented by Group 18 of the Carpenter Cousins Y-DNA Project.
The Carpenter Cousins web project is an effort to update and correct Carpenter/Zimmerman and related surnames.
Group 18 are descendants of John Carpenter-20567 whose father was also named John Carpenter. Unfortunately, we have been unable to determine which John Carpenter of many in Vermont is the correct John Carpenter. We have ruled out a few based on genetic genealogy Y-DNA testing, but not enough. And we face the spectre of a Non-Paternal Event or NPE.

Group 18 is genetically unique from other Carpenter/Zimmerman groups within the Carpenter Cousins Y-DNA Project.
