She was office manager for Dr. Wayne Ganow before becoming a motivational speaker for Christian Women's Clubs, various service clubs, churches and schools. She was a very active member of Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene, where she held many offices. She supported After 5 Christian Women's Club and was past president. Linda was born on October 17, 1946 in Hastings, Nebraska to Esther (Fry) & Carl Carpenter. Linda was baptized at the Second Presbyterian Church in Hastings, NE. She grew up in Hastings, NE. and attended school at Hastings (NE.) High School. Linda married Joe Wilson on June 7, 1963 and they lived in Hastings and moved to Glenvil. Linda worked for the Sandy Creek School District for 23 years. Linda loved being around her family. She loved scrapbooking as a hobby from her children and grandchildren's activities. Linda loved going on bus trips with her husband, Joe. Linda was active in the church at Immanuel Lutheran in Glenvil. Linda's life-long goal was to be a loving wife, mother, and grandmother which she succeeded in doing so.Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Carl Carpenter; and son, Doug Wilson.Survivors are:Husband: Joe Wilson – Glenvil, NE. Bio: Douglas, 17, of Glenvil died April 6, 1991, near Fairfield from injuries suffered in a car-train accident. Services at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil with the Rev. W. C. Westman officiating. Burial in St. Paul's Lutheran Churchyard cemetery west of Glenvil. Mr. Wilson was born at Hastings June 11, 1973, and was raised in Glenvil. A senior at Sandy Creek High School, he was a member of the basketball and football teams. He belonged to the National Art Society and Close Up. He was senior class president and named to the scholastic honor roll. He also had been named all-county and all-conference basketball and earned an honorable mention at all-state basketball. Survivors are his parents, Joe and Linda Wilson of Glenvil; one brother, Terry of Omaha; one sister, Janette Katen of Glenvil; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Carpenter of Hastings.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at California Cemetery in Branch County with Pastor Jim Hazekamp officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetery. A military committal service will be conducted by members of the Fremont American Legion. A gathering for family and friends will be held at the home of Charlie Free burn following the graveside services.

Bio: Lois Jane Carpenter 78 of rural Bluffton passed away at 9:55 a.m. Saturday at herson's home in Bluffton.Jane was born on November 2, 1934 in Wells County to Ralph Leas & Ruey (Slusher)Leas. She was 1 of the 9 students that graduated in 1952 from Jackson High School.On December 13, 1953 in Wells County she married Harold E. Carpenter. They shared 33years of marriage and he precedes her in death on June 10, 1986.Jane was a lifelong resident of Wells County. She worked for 30 years in foodservices for the Bluffton Harrison School System, working in the Middle School andHigh School cafeterias, and retiring in 1998. She was very active in the communityand volunteered for many years at the Wells County Hospital Auxiliary and working atthe Bargain Hut since 2000. She was very proud that this work supported localmedical students and E.M.T.'s with scholarships to go to school. They helped as manyas 30 students in a single year.She was a dedicated member of the Liberty Center United Methodist Church, active inUnited Methodist Women and always willing to help in the church kitchen.Survivors include her children; Gary (Mel) Carpenter of Bluffton, Larry (Tracy)Carpenter of Amherst, Ohio and Carolyn (David) Kraatz of Marlton, New Jersey. She issurvived by a brother Bob Leas of Columbia City along with 11 grandchildren; and 6great-grandchildren.She is preceded in death by a son Steven Lee Carpenter, a grandson Jarred Carpenterin 2011, 4 brothers; Gail, Jim, Jack & Don Leas and a sister Lillian Bradford.A Funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 on Thursday (October10,2013) at Liberty Center United Methodist Church, with Pastor Chad Yoder and LifeCelebrant Jeff Lemler officiating. Carpenter, 80, a resident of Fort Wayne and formerly of Churubusco, passed away at 8:50 a. m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Englewood Health & Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne following a lengthy illness.Mr. Carpenter was born in Fort Wayne on July 21, 1933, a son of Cloid and Margaret (Ellingwood) Carpenter, and spent his formative years there. On June 14, 1952 he was married at Ege to Dorothy A. "Dottie" Sullivan. The couple spent several years of their marriage in Churubusco before moving to Fort Wayne 20 years ago.Employed for 33 years at Peter Eckrich in Fort Wayne, he retired from Klink Trucking, Inc. in Fort Wayne in 2008 after 22 years there.He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, and had been a member of the Meat Packer's Union. He always enjoyed his work and the people there. He has left a legacy of a strong work ethic that will continue for yeas to come. In his leisure time he enjoyed playing cards, all types of music, and dancing. He will long be remembered as a person who enjoyed pleasing others and as a man who loved and cherished his family.The surviving relatives include his wife Dorothy "Dottie" Carpenter, to whom he was married for 62 years; his children Theresa Teders, Erin Hazelett, Michael Carpenter, and Carma (Charles) MacPherson, all of Fort Wayne, and Patrick (Amy) Carpenter of Churubusco; four foster children Thomacine Dohrman, Mary North, Chris Percy, and Lynette Bohnstedt; a sister Mary Sifuentes of Princeton, Texas; two brothers Rev. Harry (Patricia) Carpenter of Montgomery, Texas and Lester (Sharon) Carpenter of Onalaska, Texas; a sister-in-law Mary Jane Oakes of Fort Wayne; 32 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Evelyn Bodle and Madaline Fusselman; two brothers Cloid Carpenter and William Carpenter; and by a grandson Richard Arthur Teders.The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a. m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1101 S. Lafayette St., with Father Jeff Largent, the celebrant.The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 2 to 8:30 p. m. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 8 p. m. Wednesday at the church. There will also be visitation from 9 to 10:45 a. m. Thursday at the church prior to the funeral mass.Interment will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Ave Maria House, St. Mary's Soup Kitchen, or the Alzheimer's Association.Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco is in charge of the arrangements.
