BOOK:
Descendants of Samuel Carpenter of Virginia - Iowa Branch
Printed Pro-Bono March 1967 by Samuel V. Carpenter of Centerville, Iowa, USA
This book does not have a father listed for this John Carpenter.
Listed as Family #I on page 2.
John Carpenter - Mary (probably Marshall) (See page 37, Section II.) John Carpenter was in Lancaster County in 1161 -- transported by David Fox -- Lancaster County Records Book 3, page 213. (See page 38, Section II.) He later was in old Rappahannock. He was closely associated with a brother, Charles, who married Rebecca -- first of Lancaster and then of Northumberland. They could have come from Maryland.
John (and Mary) of Lancaster, 1667, is identical to John of Richmond County, who died in 1692. He bought the identical land in Sittenbourn Parish, 1683 (100 acres), that Joseph and Gressell sold in 1703 as land of their inheritance, thus proving that Joseph, who became 21 in 1701, was son and heir of John and Mary -- Book 5, page 31. (See page 9, Section II.)
Section III - Starting on page 110 of the pdf version of the book - is a listing of related material found in Westmoreland & Lancaster Counties regarding John and his possible brother Charles. Then Richmond County for John . On page 120 more on Charles in Northumberland County. John's son Joseph starts showing up on page 121 of the book.TAX: 1783
