MRS. EDITH ANDERSON
Mrs. Edith Anderson, well known Chariton lady, died at her home in this city on Wednesday evening, October 13, 1937, after a lingering illness.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Paul H. Hicks, of the Methodist church, were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home, Friday afternoon at two o'clock, and burial was in the Chariton cemetery. The floral tributes were profuse and beautiful and bore testimony to the high regard in which she was held, as well as sympathy for those left in bereavement.
Edith Fountain, daughter of Moses and Malinda Fountain, was born in English township, Lucas county, Iowa, on October 17, 1877. She grew to young womanhood in this vicinity and was united in marriage to Dr. Walter Anderson on December 25, 1899. To this union one son was born.
Mrs. Anderson was a woman of strong character and the highest and noblest qualities. She was unselfish and sacrificing in her labors for others and all who knew her will hold her in tender and loving remembrance.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her mother, Mrs. Malinda Callahan, of Chariton, and one son, Richard Anderson and wife, of Ottumwa, and many other relatives and a large number of friends.

BOOK2:
Descendants of Samuel Carpenter of Virginia - Iowa Branch

“Descendants of Samuel Carpenter of Virginia - Iowa Branch” Printed Pro-Bono March 1967 by Samuel V. Carpenter of Centerville, Iowa, USA. The original printed book is in the possession of his son Samuel Carpenter of San Diego, California in May 2016. The pdf version of the book was created in May 2016 on the behalf of the author’s son.

The author's goals were two fold:
1. Consolidate information he had gathered into written format for future researchers.
2. To put in writing a complete history of the Iowa branch of the descendants of Samuel Carpenter I, 1795.

The author also expressed appreciation to John Lyle Carpenter of East Saint Louis, IL for his publication "The Carpenter Family History" dated March 31, 1960. Especially for the Photostat copy of births, deaths and marriages from the Bible of Samuel Carpenter I, 1795. In 1967 John L. Carpenter had that Bible in his possession.

The author was also grateful to his uncle William Sanford Carpenter, M.D. and his daughter Helene Carpenter Craig for their cooperation and financial help in gathering the information for this book.
