Julie (Eliza) CarpenterHague Beloved Mother Our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, Julie (born Eliza) Carpenter Hague, 85, passed away unexpectedly January 31, 2003, of heart failure at her residence in Salt Lake City. Born July 30, 1917, in Manti, UT to Joseph Gerald and Bertella Allred Carpenter. Married Dale A. Swenson in Salt Lake City Jan 13, 1946; later divorced. Married William C. Hague Oct 15, 1965 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He passed away Dec 24, 1993. Julie attended business school and was a capable secretary, working for Westinghouse, the U.S. Weather Bureau and the Veteran's Administration. Just two weeks ago she recorded the blessing of a great-grandchild in shorthand. Julie was an active member of the LDS church, giving a lifetime of quiet, unassuming service to those around her. She loved music, especially playing her organ and directing the singing at her meetings. She loved the beauties of nature and had the gift of growing beautiful flowers of all kinds in her garden. She loved sewing and needlework, going to birthday lunches with her lifelong friends, participating in Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and most especially, being surrounded by her family, playing, singing and reading stories to the children she adored. She was a very loving person and will be missed by all who knew her. Julie is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann (Lorin, Jr.) Moench, Diane (Stephen) Ward, Marcia (Wilford) Whyle; 10 grandchildren, Christina (Doug) Reichman, Lisa (Leif) Paulsen, Doug (Brooke) Moench, Kimberly (John) Raybould, Michelle (Dave) Bagley, Bryan Moench, Craig (Kay) Ward, Stephanie (Ric) Bruce, David (Becky) Ward, Todd Pixton; 14 great-grandchildren, who were the delight of her life, Abel, Maddie, Stein, Allie, Gretchen, Anna, Noah, Grace, Spencer, Nathan, Josh, Nick, Matt, and Maggie; brothers and sisters, Robert Carpenter, Ruth Johnson, June (Craig) Ward, Carl (Marcia) Carpenter, Arthur (Glenna Rae) Carpenter; and brother-in-law, LaVon Urie. Preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and sister, Evelyn Urie. Services will be 12 noon Tues. Feb 4, 2003, Yalecrest LDS Ward Chapel, 1035 S. 1800 E, where friends may call 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the service. A viewing will be Mon. 6-8 p.m. Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. If desired, contributions may be made to the Primary Children's Hospital in lieu of flowers.Published in Salt Lake Tribune from Feb. 2 to Feb. 3, 2003
