32. Sylvester Carpenter

PARENTAGE CHALLENGED.

GRAVE:
Sylvester Carpenter
Birth: 1822 Quebec, Canada
Death: 16 Jul 1886 (aged 63–64)
Burial: Marble Rock Cemetery, Gananoque, Leeds and Grenville United Counties, Ontario, Canada
Memorial #: 233338289
Bio:
According to most researchers his first wife was Esther Moore, his second wife was Louisa Cain, and third  wife was Mary Mallory.
A review of on line family trees suggests that many people have confused him with Sylvester Bishop Carpenter 1821-1886 who lived in New York State.

It appears there is no paper record of Sylvester's death.  The year of death as inscribed on the headstone  was read as 1883 by W.J. and Nora Miller in  1976 .  Following that, the headstone was buried, and was recently recovered.  That part of the inscription is now illegible.

33. Joseph Carpenter

COMMENT:
Clinton County, NY is separated by Grand Isle County, VT from Franklin County, VT. From center of county to county is about 50 miles.  Ellenburg, NY to Montgomery, VT is about 71 miles.

COMMENT:
The 1825, 1831 and 1842 Canada Census records for the present day Quebec area simply indicate an example of what can be found. Nothing verified.
NOTE:
Per the US Census records - THIS Joseph Carpenter was already in the USA by 1832 per a child birth being born in Vermont.
