CARPENTER posted by Pat Holland on Tuesday, February 24, 1998 (Bad email address) I have been searching for my G grandfather's family. He states he was born in Miss. on cencus records. He was Maroin Frances CARPENTER born Dec. 4, 1857. He had one brother that I know of. He was Jefferson Davis Carpenter born Jan 8, 1860 in Miss. I got the cencus for all Miss. for 1860, went through county by county hoping to find him with his parents, but no luck. I've begun to loose hope! Any help would be appreciated. They were in Indian territory by 1880, lived and died in La Floria Co. OK.

I have ruled out (disproven) James F. Carpenter & Martha L. "Mattie" Hubbard as parents. I found their graves and their John T. Carpenter born 11 Nov 1869 and his grave with death dated Apr. 10, 1885.
While Joshua Carpenter and Nancy Hicks are likely and the favorite for the parents, more evidence needed.
