Mrs. Margaret Jones Carpenter, 76, wife of the late William Thomas Carpenter and a resident of Belle Haven passed away, Sunday, May 21, 2006 at her residence. A native of Belle Haven she was the daughter of the late Issac D. Jones and the late Emma Savage Jones. She was a member of Belle Haven Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a daughter, Cindy C. Matthews and her husband Douglas of Onancock, Va.; two brothers, I.D. Jones, Jr. and his wife Sandra of Exmore, Va., Franklin Jones and his wife Glenda of Suffolk, Va., two grandchildren, Lauren Matthews and Jeremy Bonniwell both of Onancock, Va. She was predeceased by a sister, Katherine Bell and a brother, Bill Jones. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the graveside of Red Bank Cemetery, Marionville, Va. The Rev. Jonathan Carpenter will officiate. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 316,, Parksley, Va. 23421. A native of Birdsnest, he was the son of the late William Thomas Carpenter, Sr. and the late Mary Gladden Carpenter. He was retired from Dulany Foods and a member of Exmore Baptist Church.He is survived by four children, Wanda C. Goff and her husband, Tony, of Searcy, AR, Sharon Carpenter and her life partner, Amy, of Melfa, VA, Tammy C. Taylor and her husband, Wayne, of Wachapreague, VA, Tommy Carpenter and his wife, Adriana, of Pungoteague, VA; a brother, Kenneth Carpenter of Exmore, VA; a sister, Mary C. "Kitty" Bagwell of New Bern, NC; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathan Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Red Bank Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will join friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Shore Christian Academy, 11624 Occohannock Road, Exmore, VA 23350.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
A graveside service was held at Belle Haven Cemetery, Belle Haven, on Monday, April 26, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jack D. Pruitt officiated.
Other than her husband, Mrs. Lingo is survived by a daughter, Nancy Lingo Powell and her husband Thomas Purnell of Pasadena, Md.; a sister, Pauline C. Iversen of Williamsburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Thomas P. Powell Jr. of Hawaii, Dr. Elizabeth Brittan-Powell of Berwin Heights, Md. and Andrew William Powell of Pasadena; and four great-grandchildren, Alicia, Jack, Sean and Henry.

William Burleigh Lingo, 89, husband of the late Naomi Carpenter Lingo and a long time resident of Cape Charles, passed away at Heritage Hall Health Care in Nassawadox on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008.Born in Jamesville, he was the son of the late Shelly Joynes Lingo and the late Blanche Tilghman Lingo. Known as "Lingo," he worked most of his adult life in Cape Charles in various positions including Fulcher and Martin Oil, Kane Miller Canning Company, Bay Shore Concrete, and the town of Cape Charles. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mr. Lingo is survived by his daughter, Nancy Lingo Powell and her husband Thomas Purnell of Pasadena, Md.; a sister, Lelia L. Dix of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren, Thomas P. Powell Jr. and his wife Carrie of Rochester, Wash., Dr. Elizabeth Frances Brittan-Powell and her husband Dr. Christopher Brittan-Powell of Berwyn Heights, Md., and Police Sgt. Andrew William Powell of Pasadena, Md.; eight great-grandchildren, Thomas John, Sean Lingo and Henry William Brittan-Powell of Berwyn Heights, Md., Alicia J. Powell of Las Vegas, Nev., Reini Side and Leila McGriff of Olympia, Wash., Stephanie Lund of Tumwater, Wash., and Cameron Bergeron of Rochester, Wash.; one great-great-grandchild, Josiah McGriff of Olympia, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by four brothers, Monroe O., James W., Walter S., and James H. Lingo; and a sister, Louise Lingo Colonna.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. from the graveside of Belle Haven Cemetery with Military Honors. The Rev. Jack D. Pruitt will officiate. Family will join friends at the Wilkins-Doughty Funeral Home in Cape Charles Sunday evening from 6 to 7:30.
