Infant Dies Of Pneumonia
Velda Louis Shearer, four-week-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Shearer of Lafayette died of bronchial pneumonia Saturday morning.
Surviving besides the parents are a brother, Max, and a sister, Sylvanna. Also, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Shearer of Remington and maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Harlow of Lafaytte.Services were held in the Stitz funeral chapel, Remington at 10 a.m. Tuesday, with Father Fred Schroeder officiating. Interment was in Remington cemetery.

William Thomas Carpenter, Jr., 57, husband of Deborah Doughty Carpenter and a resident of Exmore, VA, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. A native of Exmore, he was the son of the late William T. Carpenter, Sr. and the late JoAnn Clarke. He was a retired carpenter.In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, William T. Carpenter, III and his wife, Chelsie, of Bloxom, VA, and Mary Morse of Harborton, VA; a sister, Donna Walker Price of Austinville, VA; three grandchildren, Willow Anne Sebra, Brentley Franklin Hartman, and Jeremiah Hewell.
To honor his wishes no service will be held.

John Kendall Carpenter Jr., 70, died Thursday, June 15, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mr. Carpenter was born in Birdsnest, Va., son of the late John Kendall and Edyth Schwab Carpenter. He was the owner and operator of John's Service Center. He was a member of Cheriton Baptist Church, American Legion Post 56 and The Knights of Pythians. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Shrieves Carpenter; two sons, John K. Carpenter III and Roland L. Carpenter, both of Cheriton; and two sisters, Naomi C. Lingo of Cape Charles and Pauline C. Iverson of Williamsburg.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Cape Charles Cemetery by the Rev. Rick Kesterson and the Rev. Robert E.L. Trail. Flowers accepted, or memorials may be made to Cape Charles Rescue Service, Cape Charles, Va. 23310. Wilkins-Doughty Funeral Home, Cape Charles, is handling arrangements.
