Descendants of Jacob Carpenter-264864
Born about 1796 PA & of, Washington County, Ohio

Notes

1. Jacob Carpenter

NOTICE:
Two male Carpenter descendants from different mothers, but the same father, have Y-DNA tested and they match each other genetically and genealogically back to this Jacob Carpenter.  They created Group 43 of the Carpenter Cousins Y-DNA Project.  See: https//carpentercousins.com
This is NOT a Carpenter line from the Rehoboth, MA and Providence, RI Carpenter lines.  The Y-DNA is very different.

SEE LOGBOOK M0063.

BIRTH:
Per the 1850 US Census - born 1796 PA.
While some claim he was born in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA - but this is speculation and no proof given.

BIRTH:
Claimed as:  19 Jan 1796 in Jamaica, LI, Queens, NY - WRONG Jacob Carpenter!
A Jackson Carpenter-27470 has a birth date of 19 Jan 1797 (calculated) in  Nassau County, NY. THIS HAS BEEN DISPROVED.
This 'wrong' Jacob N. Carpenter-264862 is who married a Eliza Caper and they married about 1810ish, lived died and were buried in NY. His birth date is on Grave marker.  Also married a Elizabeth Denton in 1819.

MARRIAGE: 1819ish to a Elzabeth
We NEED to document the 28 Jan 1819 supposed NY marriage. Does anyone have this? NEED!

CENSUS: 1820 US Census - Only one found that is close in Ohio. But the eldest male is 26 to 44 or born 1776 to 1794. Off by 2 year plus too many children.

CENSUS: 1830 US Census - same person?  NO! This is Jacob N. Carpenter who never went to Ohio. Nothing real close otherwise.

I went through my old records and found the following sorry just handwritten notes, no pictures;
Washington County, OH Tax Lists (1841? - 1855?, It's a small notebook at one of the genealogy libraries in the county) Not sure if the dates are correct. I didn't record the title of the book.
I do know I couldn't find an entry for Jacob for 1841-1855 except for the following;
30 Dec 1832 - Marriage Certificate to Barbara Ann Coss
1840 Census - Lawrence Township
1843 Jacob Carpenter - Lawrence Township 3 Cattle $24 No Land
1844 Jacob Carpenter - Lawrence Township 1 Horse $40 No Land
1845 Jacob Carpenter - Lawrence Township 1 Horse $40 1 Cattle $8 - $48 No Land
1846 Jacob Carpenter - Lawrence Township $33 No Land
1850 Census - He has Real Estate valued at $65 - which means he probably acquired ~ 5 acres between 1846 and 1850?
Sorry my research isn't more complete. I know these were the only tax records that were readily accessible when I visited a long time ago. Jeff
