William Glenn Finney, 81, of Muscatine, died December 3, 2005, at his home. A Memorial Service will be December 6, 2005, at the Wesley United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Gering, Nebraska. Bill was born on February 23, 1924, in Chadron, Nebraska, the son of Glenn G. and Mayme A. Carpenter Finney and would marry the love of his life Mary E. Howard on June 9, 1946, in Gering, Nebraska. Upon graduation from Chadron HighSchool in 1942, Bill enlisted in the United States Naval Air Corp. While waiting to be called to active duty, he attended Chadron State Teachers College where he was a member of the football team. In July of 1943, he was called to active duty and completed his pilot-navigational training on February 6, 1945, receiving his Navy wings. During his three years of service he was a featherweight boxing champion at his base, served in the pacific as the navigator on a rescue plan, spent his final year of service in Japan, and received an honorable discharge in the spring of 1946. Following completion of his military service, Bill resumed his college education receiving his degree in Electrical Engineering in 1949, from the University of Nebraska. During Bill's career as an Electrical Engineer he worked for Raymond H. Reed, Buell and Winter, Stone and Webster, R.J.Donovan, and joined Stanley Engineering of Muscatine in 1974. Bill was a leader in the design, development, and building of high voltage transmission lines and electrical substations during his professional career, while being licensed in 13 states, and an active member of IEEE. He would retire from Stanley Engineering in Dec of 1985, to pursue his love of golf, gardening, and spending time with his family. He served as a trustee for Muscatine Power and Water for nine years, during which he would be instrumental in making many lasting decisions for the Muscatine community. Bill spent his adult life as a member of the Methodist Church. In Massachusetts, he was a member of Fiske Church where he served as an usher, was active in the men's club, and was involved with the youth fellowship programs. Bill was instrumental in the development of the Fiske Church's junior high and high school basketball programs. Here in Muscatine, he was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church serving as head usher for many years. Bill was an avid golfer spending many happy hours on the courses through out the US, having the dream to play on one course in each state. He was a member of the Geneva Golf and Country Club, helping out in the junior golf program, developing the "Geneva Gold and Country Club Scholarship" program, and spending many hours with friends and family on the course. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Jack, and twin daughters in infancy.

Bonita Jo Brown, 88, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 8, 2017.

She was born November 24, 1928 in Chadron, Nebraska to Mayme and Glen Finney.

Graduating from Chadron High in the class of 1947, Bonita then attended Chadron State Teachers College.

She was blessed with three children; Thomas, Donald, and Marsha.

In 1961, she moved her family to Madrid, Nebraska and began her teaching career. She had a love for children and was a gifted teacher.

In 1966, Bonita married J. Harrold Brown of Grant, Nebraska. They had many wonderful years of world travel and fulfillment.

As members of The Mennonite Brethren Church in Grant, they taught Sunday school, Bible studies and started their continuing support of the New Tribes Mission. Their home became a haven for their Missionary friends during their ministry travels.
 
After Harrold's death, Bonita followed the Lord's plan for her by teaching in a Mission school in Bolivia. She loved it there and spent two years teaching the children of the missionaries. Upon her return, she moved to Scottsbluff.
 
While in Scottsbluff, she lived a full life. She enjoyed volunteering her time at Regional West Medical Center at the immunization clinic and crocheting blankets for newborns.

She LOVED playing bridge and cherished the many friendships developed from these clubs.

Bonita's love of the arts and theater led to her support of and attendance at many cultural events.

She also enjoyed crocheting blankets for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
 
The Lord had a special place in Bonita's life. She was very active in the Grace Chapel family, teaching Sunday school, Bible studies, and making many wonderful friends. Recently she had been attending Harvest Valley Church where she was welcomed and loved.
 
Survivors include: children, Tom (Mary) Hamm, Don (Norma) Hamm, Marsha (Mark) Neifert; grandchildren, Greg (Lisa) Hamm, Marcy (Brian) Manz, Doug (Kristie) Hamm, Sean (Mary) Neifert,  Aaron (Natalie) Neifert, Hazley (Matt) Sutter,  and Hesston Hamm; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
 
Bonita was preceded in death by: parents; husband, Harrold Brown, infant daughter, Sharon Hamm; brothers, Jack and Bill Finney; and sisters, Leana Steiner and Carol Fiorini.

Memorial Service on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Scottsbluff.

Private burial at Fairview Cemetery in Grant, Nebraska.

Leana Fay (North) Steiner, 84, of Weatherford, was born December 21, 1931 in Chadron, Nebraska to George Glenn Finney and Mayme Annabel (Carpenter) Finney and passed away Monday April 11, 2016 at St. Anne’s Nursing Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Leana was raised in Chadron and attended Chadron Prep school graduating in 1949. While attending prep school, Leana worked at Schultz Drug, and then became a bookkeeper while living in Chadron. Upon moving to Tacoma, WA Leana’s first child Patricia Mowery was born in March 1952. In Nov 1953, Leana married Billy L North of Weatherford, OK. After Mike was born in Nov 1954, military duties took them to Japan where Joe was born in Sep 1957. After two years of international living, she returned to the US to San Antonio, TX and ultimately Weatherford, OK. Once in Weatherford she returned to banking and eventually took a position as bookkeeper for the Farmers COOP of Weatherford, Corn and Colony.

On April 22, 1966 she married William (Bill) Steiner and later adopted Mitchell Ray Steiner. During 45 years of marriage they enjoyed dancing, road trips and many cruises with friends and family, and retired in 1995 after 29 years at the Farmers COOP. As members of Emmanuel Baptist Church they gained many close friends and participated in many activities. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund.

Surviving Leana include daughter Patricia Mowery and Doug Walsh of Parker ,CO; son Mike North and wife Marilyn Flinchum of Piedmont, OK; son Joe North and Julie North of Genesee, CO; son Mitchell Steiner of Spokane, WA. Grandchildren Lilly Rutter, Ryan & Micah North Marshall, Jared North, Daniela & Naomi Flinchum-Vasquez, Kylie North, Kayci North, Alison North, Austin Steiner, Riley Steiner. Great-grandchildren Keevan Marshall and Noah Vasquez. Sister Bonita Brown of Scottsbluff, NE.

She was preceded in death by husband William Dean Steiner, parents Mayme and Glenn Finney, brothers Jack Finney, Bill Finney, and sister Carol Fiorini.

Funeral services will be held Saturday April 16, 2016 10:00 A.M. at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Scott Hume officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Ernest Carpenter. 72. residing on Otter Avenue, died Thursday at 6;30 p.m. at Mercy Hospital, where he had been confined following a heart attack.

He was born July 31, 1886, In Pine River, and had been employed by Mondl Manufacturing Company, A veteran of World War I, he was a member of Cook Fuller Post 70 of American Legion.

Surviving arc two sons, Glen Carpenter, with the Army In England, and Raymond Carpenter, Oshkosh: one brother, Daniel Carpenter. Oshkosh; two sisters, Mrs August Dahl, Bessemer, Mich., and Mrs. Glen Finney, Chadron, Neb. and a number of nieces and nephews.

Arrangement for services will lie announced later by Bronson Funeral Home, Omro.

Mrs. Blanche E. Morey, 75, of 519 Washington Ave. died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at Mercy Medical Center after an illness of several weeks.

She was born in the Town of Leon in Waushara County on Dec. 22, 1894. Her husband, Frank Morey, preceded her in death in 1964. She had lived in Oshkosh for 43 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Inez Reinke of Iron Mountain Mich.; two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Fiss & Bills Funeral Home, with Salvation Army Capt. Jacob Bender officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 Thursday at the funeral home.

Leith L. Hoffman, 80, late of Milford, died peacefully at home Sunday, May 11, 2008.

He was born on July 27,1927 in Port Jervis, N.Y,, the son of the late Leo and Edna Carpenter Hoffman.

Leith was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran and belonged to the Marsch-Kellogg American Legion Post #139 of Milford. Leith was an active member in his community serving on the borough council and the Milford Fire Dept.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanne; three daughters, Elaine Stinardo, Lorry Bauer and husband, Robert, and Nancy Greer and husband Neal. Leith is also survived by his brother, Vincent and wife, Myrna; and four grandsons, Derrick Bauer, Kyle Bauer, Matthew Greer and Eric Greer; two nieces, Lisa Schneerman and Michelle Dimmick; one great-niece, Christina.

Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Church, 111 High St., Milford on May 15, where The Most Rev. Gerald Mullally officiated.

Private internment in Milford Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Milford Fire Dept., PO Box 1369, Milford, PA 18337.
